Lessons On My Pillow: What is Love?

Have you ever said 'I love you' to someone before? Hummmmm! The three letter words that can disrupt you anatomy and change your world. Another question, have you ever loved someone so much that the three magical words weren't enough to express how you felt or have you said 'I love you' to someone only to discover you don't really love them as much as you thought you did? (Have been in both situations lolz).

What is love to you? Is it a deep feeling of emotion? Butterfly in your stomach that you can't Control? If that is what love is all about, then what about love for yourself and your family? I may not be able to give a full description of love, but I know that love is beautiful, God gave us Jesus cause He so love us, (apology to the athiests) so love is giving, it is sacrifice, giving up something precious to get something much more precious cause you believe in it, if you can't sacrifice, you haven't loved.

Remember the story of the prodigal son? One of the most beautiful love stories ever told, love is not about second chances, it is uncountable chances, love is holding on no matter what, love is forgiving despite rejection, love is believing in the other person, and holding on to them no matter what.

Love is a decision, to us, it may look like we just love someone and we can't control it, nay, love do not just happen, despite the challenges in the way of our love, somewhere within us is a decision to stay, to hold on to that person, that's why someone may profess undying love today, and tomorrow he is walking away, feelings haven't changed, but the decision to love has changed, then later on, the feeling will begin to change too. (Believe me, you will be doing yourself no favour by holding on to someone that has decided to let you go).

What again is love? May sound strange a bit, but love is letting go, yea, love is letting those who we love be who they want to be though we may not like it, love is not choking them, bending them to our will, but love is setting them free, letting them follow their heart even if it means leaving your own heart in shreds. Love is letting people be who they want to be, go where they want to go cause your love is not a power that binds.
