Why didn't the devil attack Eve when he approached her in the garden? The Bible called the devil 'a roaring lion seeking whom to devour'. We must note that the devil didn't come upon that title suddenly, he has always been a roaring lion. He was also called a serpent. 1, a serpent have loads of tricks, 2, a serpent is dangerous, can harm or maim and coincidentally, the devil approached Eve in the form of a serpent, but though his end game was to hurt man, he couldn't do it at that time, but instead, he did what he is doing to us today, he attacked the knowledge of God and His Grace that Eve had.
He attacked Eve's mind, he made Eve turn from being God-dependent to being self-dependent, he shifted the gaze of Eve from God to her self, he made Eve doubt the knowledge of God she had and subsequently made her abandon it.
"For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil." Genesis 3:5 KJV
Eve was too knowledgeable to worship Satan directly, but the devil got her into self-worship, he arouse that desire to be independent and Godlike, and that was the access the Devil needed to attack Eve, attack her Home and even get seeds.
Who gave the devil the pass to enter the garden of Eden? The devil had always being around, but not once was he able to touch Adam and Evil; not that he didn't want to, nothing delights him than to make man suffer, but he couldn't attack them, their marriage, family, health, divine tasks, and all that pertain to this first couple were off limit. In other words, the devil could go in and out of the garden of Eden, but he could not touch anything in Eden, he was there when they got married, but u he couldn't attack the marriage. The Same thing applies to us today, the devil is in the world, no amount of prayer and fasting can get him off the earth, but we definitely can get his stinking nose off our business.
When you are born again, filled with the knowledge of God's grace, the first thing the devil will do is to attack your knowledge of God, of Grace and freedom you carry. He will make you shift your focus from God to yourself, it will no longer be about what God can achieve in your life but what you can get done.
Are you going through attacks of the devil? Check your life to see where you have exchanged the knowledge of God for self glorifying knowledge. Check to see if you are still Jesus-centered or self-centered. You need to know if Jesus only is still your message or you are now wallowing in self righteousness. How far you carry the true knowledge of Christ will determine how far you are from afflictions from the devil because wrong knowledge is the first and the most important thing the devil need to attack and break you.
